OMG! It Moved!!!

For those of you paying attention (and I know you are legion, haha), I just thought I would do a post to reassure everyone that I have not entirely given up writing. If you haven't noticed, my word meter for Chancellor's Bride

=====that-a-way=====>

has gone up by 2000 words.

*This burst of creativity brought to you by my stepsons' two-day camping trip.

Dude!! Way to go!!

I've been wondering what happened to you. And I was totally thinking aobut you the whole time I was at the Viking thing.

good stuff, k!

[btw - that 3d gafik sux, he's about the most juvenile thing i've seen ]

Thanks, Suberban mom! I figured summer was going to be a total black hole creatively speaking, so I'm really pleased. Plus, I put another 400 words on last night--not much, but 400 more than 0, right?

What happened to me Seeley? Well, summer is the season of chaos. Not conducive to concentrating. At its worst, I can't organize a trip to the toilet, let alone write a coherent sentence. And I'm still waiting for pics of hot Viking babes and beefy Viking dudes. Blond braids and oxnards, remember?

Thanks, laughingwolf! (Are you referring to Aru on the cover of Healer's Touch? He does seem young for a 1800-year-old, but his race is supposed to look kinda like very ancient, very wise teenagers, so the artist did pretty well. And I'm overjoyed the cover didn't turn out like one from Changeling Press. If I knew how to insert a link, I'd give you one-click access to some of the most atrocious poser covers in existence. Go to Changeling now. Check it out.)

BTW, laughingwolf, how are you feeling? Have you recovered from your fall? Sucks to be laid up, I know.

Yeah for you, even better for us! I'm so not selfish that way. :D

Sounds like you maybe even had a nice litte break?

kirsten saell said...

Yeah, MB, it was a nice break. Almost quiet. It's gonna feel like a ghost town around here come September.

Yay!

laughingwolf said...

yes, that one... i did not mean he looks young, rather the 3d work is juvenile = clumsy/awkward

i'll check out cp in a bit...

as for my cuts/bruises, they're healing, the worst bruise is in my chest, hurts to even blow my nose, gently

sneezed once, thought my chest exploded... lying down and getting up are a bitch, too... thx for asking

the 'art' at cp sucks! :(

Should have told you to use a pinhole camera when going to Changeling's site. Hope your retinas didn't spontaneously detach.

Yeah the characters seem a bit stiff, but Healer's and Crossing are probably in the 99th percentile as far as ebook poser cover art goes, so I'm very pleased. Keep in mind, no epublisher is going to spend $4000 on cover art for one book.

My third cover is stock-photography--it's uber hot (although still has its issues), and I'll post it as soon as I have approval from the publisher.

Seeley deBorn said...

You have a third cover??

Tease!

laughingwolf said...

i have yet to see good cgi art, even the shrek series has probs... no offense intended....

kirsten saell said...

LOL, Seeley, I wish I could post it, but it hasn't been approved yet. If you like, you can see it on Mandy M. Roth's blog (she's the artist, and did a series on cover art a week or two ago). But that isn't necessarily the final version.

And laughingwolf, I have to agree with you on the limitations of computer graphics. The cover for Crossing Swords wowed me, though, in its overall effect. I only wish Healer's Touch had lent itself to a similar cover, but it didn't.

laughingwolf said...

'crossing's' cover IS good; the one for 'touch', not remotely....

OMG it made my mouth water! That is gorgeous!!

I know! Can't wait to post it.
