Oooh! Oooh!

In the "Squee" column, just lookit what I got! I knew I was getting it, I'm even the one who wrapped it, and I'm still all excited.
*Victorian tinsel strategically placed to obscure my mild-mannered alter ego.

You know, one thing I love about Samhain is that they have so many titles available from MBaM in SONY pdf. Including mine, heehee! AND even if you've already bought them in a different format, you can go back to your bookshelf and get them in SONY. Yay for my TBR pile!

In the "Total bummer, I haz sad" column, my dog started peeing all over the house yesterday. I'm hoping it's just a bladder infection, but whatever it is, the vet won't be back in his office until Tuesday. So if Slip doesn't like cranberry juice, she's just gonna have to stay in that cage for the next several days. Poor dog...

If it isn't a bladder infection, I don't know what we're gonna do about it. Heroic measures are out of the question for us. But as big a pain as she is, I'm not quite ready to send her off to that big old dog-hair covered couch in the sky...

But adding to the "Squee" column, my kids haven't gotten into a single argument so far today. We didn't forget to go to the liquor store yesterday when it was still open. I made $150 in 6 hours at work on Christmas Eve, our turkey is smelling totally blammo, and I have ten scratch and win Bingos to get through before supper. Oh, and I'm two glasses down, so I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy, too.
Merry Christmas, everyone! Hugs and big ol' sloppy kisses for all of you!

Oh that's so sad about your dog. I really hope it's a simple bladder infection. But isn't it the way that these things always happen on weekends or the holidays?

She looks like a real sweetheart. Hope she feels better soon.

First, you're so lucky getting a Sony. It's so much better than reading on a computer.

AND even if you've already bought them in a different format, you can go back to your bookshelf and get them in SONY

You know, I only found out about this recently and I love Samhain for doing it. I downloaded a book in HTML, which I can convert to read on my eBookwise, but for some reason the file was slightly corrupt and while it was fine on my computer it wouldn't translate.

Then I ordered some other books and saw that all the books I've ordered were on my account and I just re-downloaded that book in pdf, and was able to then get it on my eBookwise.

Phaze is the only other publisher that I know allows you the option to download in several formats even after you've downloaded it once. Kudos to both Phaze and Samhain for that!

Thanks, Leah. It's a worry about Slip because she's 12, and that's just the right age for all kinds of things we can't afford to deal with--diabetes and cancer, etc. And there is just no way I could deal with a dog who can't control her bladder. She wet her bed last night--normally she can go from 11PM to noon without a problem--and we were up before 8.

Poor dog. She's such a pain most of the time, I didn't realize how hard it would hit me that she's not well. I just hope it's something we can fix with minimal expense, because we just can't afford to deal with surgery or lifelong pharmaceutical intervention.

And yeah, Samhain is awesome for letting readers redownload their books. I mean, I can imagine so many reasons someone would need to do that--upgrading to a new device, computer crashes, losing your flash drive, etc. And to be honest, it doesn't make piracy any more likely, but it will win you some pretty loyal customers.

Hugs, and Merry Christmas!

I hope your dog gets better. It's sad when animals get sick. They just can't communicate with us the same way we do.

As for the Sony! That is such a spiffy little reader and I see you have your book uploaded on it :)! I have an ebookwise. I love it, but the sony is more sleek and cool looking. Maybe some year the hubby will buy me one of those. Actually, I should say maybe one year the hubby will let me buy one of those! He won't buy it for me :).

Thanks Amy. She managed to make it through the night without peeing in her cage, so I hope she'll get better. She's 12, and she has trouble with the stairs sometimes, but she really isn't old old, you know.

And yeah, I'm still stoked about my Sony. I kept talking myself out of getting it, and then my mom made the mistake of asking me whether I wanted a laptop cooler or a Sony for Christmas. Well, duh, right? LOL And I had to have a picture to post, so I had to upload Crossing Swords, because DAMN, that cover is hot!

Hope you had a great Christmas, Amy!

Want!!

(ereader, got the book ;) )

Poor mutt. I hope it's nothing serious.

And I hope you win more than I did on the bingo cards...*mutters about a measly 3 bucks*

Ten bingo cards, two dollars... *sigh*

My daughter almost made the twenty bucks back on hers.

Oh, Laughingwolf, don't knock the Sony til you've tried it. It looks so much like a real page it's almost freaky. And I can curl up in my chair, set it on my knee and read hands-free. I could fold clothes while reading. I could wash dishes while reading. I can enlarge the text, I don't get hand fatigue...

Best thing, it only eats power when you turn the page, so if I take it to bed and fall asleep, I'm not sucking electricity.

It takes a bit to get used to pressing a button rather than turning a page, but it is freaking awesome!

My dog, well, she's been at large for a few hours and hasn't peed anywhere (she peed on my chair on Christmas Eve. Not on her chair, mind you...). But she hasn't eaten a bite of dog food in more than a week. Still has an appetite for Beggin' Strips and people food, tho, so she's not on death's door yet...

Merry Christmas (belated) and big sloppy hugs and kisses to you too, kis!

And I hope your dog is okay. :-(

Thanks, D. *mwah!*

I sure like that picture of you, btw.

not about to hand out that much cash for a 'reader' then more for the ebooks, is all i'm saying... maybe after i win the lotto...

kirsten saell said...

LOL, I hear ya, Laughingwolf. But for me, a year's worth of trips to the bookstore (more than 200 km away) or shipping from Amazon, would probably be close to $300. And I only buy ebooks if they're comparatively inexpensive--you won't find me paying print prices for digital, let me tell you...

If I lived somewhere other than the middle of nowhere, I'd probably be happy with Chapters or Coles. Coles is still around, right?

In the last few days I've been catching up on my ebooks. Crossing Swords was recommend to me by AmyC and I have to say I throughly enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series. :)

kirsten saell said...

Thanks, Anna! Hope you enjoy the others just as much!

not sure about coles, they keep merging... so if i'm in a mall, i just wander into a bookstore without caring which

but yeah, in your case an e-reader works
