Kill me now...

After a week of barfalicious togetherness, I was all set to send my herd of brats to school today. Because no matter how much I love them, a week of whining, moaning, vomiting, hacking, nose-blowing, feverish quality time is enough for any mother.

The alarm went off at 7:30, I lurched up the stairs. Looked at my coffee-maker. Looked at it some more. Poured myself some iced tea and washed down a handful of pills. Then I stumbled back downstairs and crawled back into bed.

I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Fever, joint and muscle aches, chills. Only good thing is my cough seems to have improved and I'm not walking around with a wadded kleenex shoved up each nostril. But holy crapping damn, my body HURTS all over. No way could I have stayed upright long enough to get my monsters to school. Driving? Not a freaking chance. Only reason my fingers are obeying me so I can type this is because I've just had another handful of T-1s.

Does this make me a bad mom? I don't care. One more day off school will not doom them to failure come report card time.

For me, I'm just gonna go lie in the middle of the street and hope some kindly passing motorist runs me over. Blurgh.

Well one thing you haven't lost is your sense of humor. LOL

Awww...I hope you feel better. If I were in your shoes, the kids be damned. LOL I'd even let them play in the streets, in front of cars if I felt as bad as you say you do.

Take care of yourself and do what you need to do to feel better.

Hugs and wishing you feel better soon. :D

Oh no, Kirsten :(. Sounds like you might have a case of the flu. Last year this exact time I had the flu. I had never ever in my life had the flu before and it was awful! Exactly what you described with the horrible body aches and chills. I hope you feel better soon.

I hope you feel better soon! Take a really hot shower with an open container of Vicks. It sounds weird but I makes me feel better.

Leah, if I ever lose my sense of humor, that's the day someone really does need to take me out in the woods and shoot me. Although that option is looking better all the time...

Thanks Amy. My daughter was on the couch yesterday, teeth chattering and moaning, and today she's pretty much fine. So I have some small hope this will be over soon. I had all the other horrible symptoms already--sinus cold, cough, etc--maybe this is the tail end of it.

Plus, I did manage to stagger to the grocery store without falling down. I made sure to tell everyone who came near me to rush for the decon showers as soon as I was gone. As much as misery loves company, I'm just not that cruel...

Thanks, Tiah. No matter how shitty I'm feeling, a hot shower usually does help. And I love the smell of Vick's. I'd snort that stuff all day if I could get away with it.

Ouch. Feel better Kirsten. I've so been there. We have to take care of the troops but then when we're sick, who's there to take care of us? :(

Hi Kristen,

I'm so sorry you're sick!

I just wanted to let you know I've been over at the Samhain site reading the excerpt of Crossing Swords and am totally excited to read it. I want to read it now.

I've never been here before. Isn't visiting a blog kind of like visiting someone's house? *looks around* Nice place you've got here. ;)

Feel better soon.

Thanks Barbara. :) Being sick wouldn't be so bad if I only had a personal assistant, you know...

Hey, Evie, how you doing? I'm glad CS's excerpt sucked you in, LOL. Hope you enjoy the whole shebang.

I'm mostly feeling better, thanks, although I think this cold has turned into a sinus infection. I have a Dr's appointment tomorrow that was supposed to be for my biannual check-up, but I think I'll ask him for some antibiotics.

*looks around* Nice place you've got here. ;)

All I can say is, it's a good thing you can't see into my actual house through your computer. Four sick people home for nine days straight really does a number on the whole housekeeping thing...

LOL. I know the feeling. Like your household could qualify for disaster relief. Or at least a supply drop from the Red Cross. Hang in there!

hope you recover quickslike, k...

gonna be recovering from muscle microsurgery to both eyes for some time, so not in the best shape myself :(

Yikes, Laughingwolf! Just the thought of eye surgery gives me the shudders. Take care of yourself!

I'm mostly better now, though I still have a bit of a cough. Tons of people in town got hit with this bug, including some of the staff at the medical clinic, who get flu shots every year. So at least no one can tell me "I told you to get a flu shot!"

Dude, update your freakin blog already.

Dammit, Seeley! Can't you see I'm too busy ignoring my housework to blog?
