Happy New Year!

All right, it's more than half a day late and many many many dollars short, but I'm saying it anyway. And to celebrate, I'm changing up my blog. Don't know if I'm in love with the template I picked, but I am too lazy and inept to seriously customize this thing, so it will have to do. I have visions in my head of awesome graphics and gorgeous colors but they all look like gobbledegook when expressed in HTML, so forget it.

I'm also supposed to be cleaning my house right now (it's a New Year's Day tradition), but I just don't feel like it. I hit the internet instead of the bottle last night, but still ended up with something of a hangover. Internet hangovers differ from alcohol induced ones in that there is less nausea but a bigger headache.

So I'm relaxing, trying to collect my thoughts before I write my mandatory daily wordcount for January (500 words a day ought to be doable even for me, right?). If I stick to that, I'll have Chancellor's Bride in my editor's hand by the end of the month, and then it's on to something new--that is, something I started sometime in the last year or two, but only let myself write a few thousand words of. I think I might try that f/f romance idea I've been kicking around. Not a lesbian romance, mind you, an f/f romance--there's a difference that's hard to put into words, like the difference between Gibson's London Dry Gin and Tanqueray (I'm always up for a booze analogy the day after a party).

I know many people make New Year's Resolutions. I've always seen them as pointless set-ups for feelings of failure, and the prevailing sentiment among my acquaintances seems to bear this out. Therefore, in the spirit of self-validation and optimism, I'm making some realistic resolutions for the coming year. In 2009 I resolve to:

Keep drinking when I feel like it
Clean my house less (totally doable)
Be more content with what I have
Put on ten pounds (heck, I may even exceed my goal here)
Smile more

If you all have any resolutions, feel free to share in the comments. Realistic ones only, please.

:)

I like your resolutions. Very realistic. And honest.

I plan to buy more e-published books! That is very doable!!

I got lucky today. I took my son to the movies and came home to my husband nearly done cleaning the house!! I was pleasantly surprised.

I can't wait for something new from you to read this year :). F/f is always good. I'm quite liking it. There are a few from your loving venus blog I want to read and a few others I've found.

I like your new blog colors and layout.

Hmmm...You write f/f more like Bombay Gin. Very smooth and light with a biting freshness that makes you feel hawt and horny all over afterwards. Definitely f/f with a non-lesbian twist.

Skip that other swill! :D

No real resolutions here. I won't keep them anyway. I got a few that I can't mention here that I'm gonna work damn hard to fulfill though. ;)

Thanks, Amy. :)

That's awesome that you're finding reads from LVLM. And it's cool to find others who enjoy f/f--according to a lot of people, we don't exist or something. Of course, you could be a figment of my imagination, but I don't think so...;)

And that's a great resolution. Now that I've got my Sony, I'm definitely going to be reading more epubbed books, too.

As for your husband, he sounds like a keeper. :D

Swill or not, Bombay, Tanqueray, Gibson's, Gilbey's, it's all wet and has booze in it, right? :D

You really like the new look? I hate it already. Might adore it tomorrow, though. I'm fickle that way.

Come onnnnnnn! You can tell us. We won't rat on you, we promise! LOL

Well, actually, I liked the other one better. The colors were more bold and contrasty. Kind of like your books and you.

This is a bit more understated. But still appealing. :D

You are right. But gawd I used to love me some Bombay gin. Only thing I drank for years.

Good for you, Laughingwolf! Of course, there's a reason that wasn't one of my resolutions, lol!

Hugs and smooches! :)

Understated, huh? Yeah, that's me right there... not. LOL

You know, I used to have preferences with gin, but now all I need is lots of limes and I can drink the cheapest rot-gut panty-peeler out there. Hmm, maybe f/f and lesbian are more like lemons and limes. I'll take lemons in a pinch, but it's just not the same...
